Reconditioning

As pain decreases and range of motion increases, the patient begins a RECONDITIONING PROGRAM.

This involves a home program of stretching and strengthening the key posture muscles responsible for stabilizing the pelvis and shoulder girdle. Also, activities the patient enjoys such as walking, biking, water exercise, yoga, Tai Chi, etc., may be resumed while the patient is in therapy.

These activities are discussed during each treatment. If the patient has increased pain, decreased range of motion or other problems, the therapist will discuss how to modify these activities to increase flexibility, strength and endurance without increased pain.

Treatment

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists treat primarily through a doctor's referral, and will treat self-pay patients when appropriate.

Your physician, chiropractor or dentist can provide you with a prescription for Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy. After approximately four to six weeks of treatment, you will return to your referring doctor for evaluation.

You and your doctor will then decide if continued treatment is appropriate.
